Hiwassee River Fly Fishing Guide Service

The Hiwassee River is our favorite tailwater fishery. It is by far our favorite river in East TN for dry fly fishing. It's as close to a big, western type dry fly river that you will find in any of the southern states. It's also the state's first scenic river, and after one look you'll know why. The scenery and shear size of this trout fishery will astonish many that are not familiar with tailwater fisheries. This river requires a competent Hiwassee River fly fishing guide to safely conduct fly fishing float trips due to the sheer size and whitewater sections.

On any given day you can catch trout by whatever means you prefer. You can start out with a dry fly, taking advantage of the early morning hatch, and then progress to casting deep nymphs or beating the banks with big streamer patterns in the afternoon. After lunch we often keep up the subsurface attack until the rising fish are begging us to switch back over for some surface action. Many of our clients come to fish dry flies exclusively and can stay busy catching fish throughout the entire day.

We have many clients that prefer to use spinning gear only, and we provide the same high quality experience for them as well. Many nice trout have been brought to the net with a Rapala or rooster tail on the Hiwassee, and either way you prefer is fine with us.

We prefer to float the Hiwassee, but we also offer wade fishing trips when the water release schedules dictate. Feel free to contact us for more information about the releases and for any help that you may need in planning your trip. We're always glad to help our customers plan their next fishing adventures with us.

When you call, don't forget to ask about our annual striper run that we have on the Hiwassee. Very few trout rivers in the world can provide dry fly fishing in the morning for trout, and then allow the opportunity to tangle with a big striper in the afternoon. MANY vacations are planned around this annual migration, and it occurs during our busiest time of year. If you think you might be interested, give us a call for the details. Limited openings are available, so don't delay.
